Don't just raise your child but nurture them.

Don't just raise your child but nurture them.

In today’s society women are not less than men. She handles all types of responsibilities. She is working woman as well as a home maker. In this everyday hectic life she never forgets that she is also a mother. Her child is most important aspect of her life. So everything related to the child also becomes important. She shares most of the responsibilities like schooling, parenting, health, values and so on....

Think beyond making your children just professionals.

From the moment the child is conceived and even before that we mothers have some plans. As a parent we want to see our children achieving certain goals and worry about their upbringing. One who is doctor wants their child to be doctor and they legacy continues. From poor to rich everyone wants their child to be doctor, advocate, scientists teacher, sports personalities or other professionals. Very rarely we think beyond that.

What is beyond that?

Beyond that is thinking to give something in return to the society. To do something for society. Here the thought is not about giving money. Giving out money is easiest way of doing charity. What we and society need at every point of time is time, hard work, dedication, thoughts, ideas. In order to bring revolution these factors are necessary. Therefore here on we need to inculcate different values into children . It doesn't mean that we should stop our children from being such highly qualified professionals but we should make them understand they have to be someone who can bring change in society or put their valuable contribution in some sort of way to the society. In this way not only we will grow up our child into good professional or good human being but also they might get leadership qualities, risk taking ability, ability to think out of the box. I believe this is how the leaders are created. Famous leaders like Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Subhash Chandra Bose, Swami Vivekananad and many more have given their tremendous contribution to society not in the terms of money but time, hard work, dedication thoughts, ideas and other. Though we have subjects like value education in academic syllabus it concentrates mostly on grade than practical education.

Develop your vision beyond academics.

When our children  grow up we shouldn't be aiming them to be one who stands in merit during school or college days. Whereas we should want them to enjoy true colors of life. We should make them learn art, music, dance, sports, literature and whatever they like and find their passion into. Don't just expect them to excel in school exams whereas teach them to understand and relate with what they are learning, why they are learning. You may choose whatever carrier you want to but the most important thing is to relate what you learn.
Encourage your  children to be a good reader.
Make them available with good books. Also take them to various historical places and travel a lot together discovering various shades of nature.
Teach them to cook, exercise from the very beginning of the life. We all know that cooking is life skill to survive. Exercising is way to good health.Never compare your children with anyone. Comparing children is one of the biggest mistake we do when we do their upbringing.

Understand your child is unique.

Every child is different in ability, quality, interest and other technical factors. Thus comparing them will take them nowhere. Comparing siblings is also not a good practice because not just internal factors but also external factors develops personality of an individual. By inculcating right values we can make a child not just a good human being but also a good son, daughter, student, citizen and much more. Thus we must focus on correct parenting strategies to nurture them.

Understand what society needs now. Society needs change. In order to bring change as parents we need to up-bring our children wisely. Don't just let them walk behind herd.Teach them to lead and not to follow.

  2. This is such a great post, I wish this was required reading, sometimes I think some kids are just the latest accessory for there parents, and just an after thought told to sit in the corner and be quiet on their phones. If everyone did this we would be raising such a great tomorrow.

  4. I am a firm believer in validating a child's feelings, even in the middle of a tantrum. They have to learn what those feelings are and learn from them!
